Frost and ice adorn the trees of the forest, cries of ravens echo through the cold air. Once more, odes to nature and purity arise out of the woodland and accompany the chants of despair and long forgotten solitudes. Battle chants and the roar of the wilderness take you on a fog-enshrouded dawn in a cold European winter, as new ideals of glorifying life, nature and the everlasting wheel of sun and seasons are born and carried in the souls of the warriors who have found their dark paths beyond the hunger of time. As always, genre doesn’t matter here; I just write whatever music I feel like writing. Even though I have, over the past year, which was filled with quite a lot of important events that were very time-consuming and thus didn’t allow me to compose as frequently as before, observed a great increase of variety concerning the styles and genres of music that I enjoy listening to, I chose to create this Winterforst album (which is also exceptionally short) in the fashion of the kind of Black Metal that I enjoy composing. For me, personally, there are many more genres of music that I now frequently compose in and also listen to. Still, Winterforst is an Alamannic Black/Pagan Metal project and by releasing this album I obliged to the tradition. First of all, I have to thank many people for helping me in the musical process of this album; first and foremost a good friend of mine who agreed to contribute the female vocals: Hereby I thank you in front of the internet for all the things you’ve done to made this album’s general idea become reality. You helped me in creating a creative idea of mine. Thank you so much! Also, a great thank you goes out to the drummer of Rising Fire, who generously let us use his microphone for vocal recording purposes. You too, are greatly appreciated for having helped me with this record. The reasons I have mixed feelings about this album is not because I like it less than some of my earlier works, but that I will not be able to compose and release material for Winterforst as frequently as I used to do in the next three years due to a variety of reasons: First of all, there is an increasing external demand on my time, since I have started studying at University and will thus be immersed in my studies for most of the time. It is not an activity similar to producing music, but it is very fulfilling, too. Second, I feel drained concerning the creativity used for Winterforst. I have no immediate future plan to release a Winterforst album by now, because I am completely void of musical inspiration for Winterforst. Even though this has never been the case when the earlier albums were released, I’m sure that my inspiration to write this kind of music will come back soon. And yes, of course I have changed as a person; from being an elitist Black Metal kiddie back when I started this band in late summer 2012 to actually realizing that this kind of music is so special and unique to me that I will also seriously pursue the further composition of similar pieces, it has really been a long way. I will continue to be musically active in the Black Metal genre, but any plans that I have by now are still very unprecise, so I will inform you later about it. Be prepared for a new musical era of Alamannic Pagan Black Metal when I will come back with Winterforst. For now, I have other things to do, other quests to fulfil and other dreams to live, but that doesn’t stop my creativity. Heathenpride from Alamannia!
