Cotignac - A Wonder French Village - Discovering the Most Beautiful Villages in France

A village of character Cotignac, a village of character with 2146 inhabitants, nestles at the foot of a huge tuff rock 400 meters long and 80 meters high. In the Quaternary era, the river La Cassole flowed over the rock. The current village was then only the base of this huge waterfall. From the 1000s until the 19th century, this river was diverted and now passes east of the village and flows into the Argens. It is therefore the falls of this water that have formed all the crevices and the petrified waterfalls. A symbol These caves have had various uses that have evolved over the centuries.
