Viparita Dandasana practice using Blocks to open the Chest and Shoulders

I’m working to get the upper arm bones flush against the blocks. A method to me in a backbending class taught by Patricia Walden. The pumping action was taught by my teacher Zoe Stewart. I also learned it from Geeta Iyengar while studying in Pune. Bringing the leg up in the Eka Pada variation, strengthens the hamstrings, buttocks and back. It increases range of motion in the shoulders and the opening in the chest.
