江戸時代から作られていたが、量産されるようになったのは明治以降。優秀な琴の産地として発展した。桐の乾燥材を使用、音色良く耐久性に優れる。 FUKUYAMA-KOTO (PLANE HARP) Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture Koto is a Japanese traditional musical instruments with 13 strings. The origin of the present model dates back to the early 17th century. Resonance is enhanced by chiseling a pattern of grooves in a section of the soundboard’s underside. The color of the wood-grain is drawn out by a treatment using a hot iron. The bodies are made from paulownia trees and the wood is weathered for over one year.
