香川漆器は、江戸時代後期に、玉楮象谷が、「蒟醤（きんま）」、「存清（ぞんせい）」等タイや中国から伝わってきた漆器技法を研究し、それらにわが国古来の技法を加えて新しい技法を生み出したことから始まりました。現在では香川県内はもとより、全国各地からも年々注文が多くなり注目されています。 Kagawa lacquerware was established at the end of the Edo era (1600-1868) . They have developed this new style by combinig the techniques introduced from china and the traditional lacquer art techniques of Japan.
