Dragonfly Nymph Jet Propulsion

This is a video of dragonfly jet propulsion. Notice how the dragonfly doesn’t use it’s legs to swim around the bowl when it’s disturbed? This is because dragonfly nymphs have a rectal chamber lined with gills from which they can expel water with enough force to propel them through the water. This behavior probably helps dragonflies escape predators and other dangers by helping them move away from an area very quickly. Образовательные видео в паблике
