Fly Tying: My #1 Carp Fly - The Carp-it-fuzz!

When I go fly fishing for carp, I want to keep it as simple as possible. Carry as little as I can and have one fly that imitates many different food sources. The Carp-it-Fuzz does just that! It imitates many creatures that live on the bottom, dragonfly nymphs, small crayfish, leaches and baitfish! I’ve seen carp move 3 feet out of their way to eat it! I just tie it in different colors and sizes, I carry the fly in size 6 and 8’s in black, brown, olive, rust and off-white. Smallmouth bass can’t get enough of this fly either. They love to follow carp and eat the leftovers. So if I’m not battling a carp I’ve got a smallmouth on! To me that’s a great way to spend a day fly fishing! This fly was designed with a few key items in mind. First it has to land gently on the water, thus the bead chain eyes.
