Please consider supporting my work through Patreon here: Matsya Avatar ( First Incarnation of Lord Vishnu ) The first avatar of Dashavatara is Matsya Avatar or Fish Incarnation which Lord Vishnu took during the Satya Yuga. When the world was at the brink of extinction Manu was instructed by Lord Vishnu to rescue the life form on earth, he chooses 1 male and 1 female from every species, also collects plants of different species and loads them all on the big ship he had already built along with sapta rishis. The whole world was washed up in rain and as a result there was no land to stay. A fish (matsya) with horns comes to the rescue. The ship was tied to the horn of the fish, the fish pulls the ship with great speed towards the himalayas where there was a small island for all the life forms to gradually grow and increase in number, thus Lord Vishnu takes the form of a fish to save Manu from the flood. It is also mentioned that Lord Vishnu saved the four Vedas during Matsya Avatara. According to Vishnu Puran Asura Hayagriva stole the vedas from Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu took the form of Matsya and fought with Hayagriva and defeated and killed him and rescued the Vedas.
