China’s Forgotten War 16. Henan Famine

On 1945/08/15, Japan announced unconditional surrender. This marks the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan of China. However, this war can never be forgotten. In 1942, drought and war brought famine to Henan province, China. Between 2 and 3 million people in Henan starved to death. 4 million refugees fled Henan on foot, by truck or train, simply to survive.
