Nadi shodhana pranayama is a very important practice that is mentioned in a large number of ancient yogic texts. The following quote from the Gherand Samhita speaks of her most directly: “Breathe in through the ida (left nostril) and exhale through the pingala (right nostril). Then inhale through the pingala and exhale through the chandra (left nostril). Puraka (inhalation) and rechaka (exhalation) should be done without haste. This practice will help eliminate the problem of coughs and colds. “ (57 and 58)
