Bishop stabbed during live streamed sermon in Sydney church

Hundreds of protesters have gathered at a church in Sydney after a man stabbed a priest and several others during a livestreamed Mass service. Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel was leading a service at Wakeley’s Christ The Good Shepherd Church when a man with a knife approached him at the altar. Video showed the attacker stab the leader of the ultra-conservative sect of the Assyrian Orthodox, who has a large social media following, multiple times. Police said they had arrested the suspect, and neither the priest’s injuries, nor those of three other people who were wounded, are thought to be life-threatening.
