Outed Gabon President cries for help in video message, as citizens celebrate coup - Gabon coup Following a coup that led to his removal by the military and subsequent placement under house arrest, Gabon’s President Ali Bongo has reached out for assistance. Speaking from what he asserted to be his residence, he called upon his supporters to make their voices heard. Prior to this, army officials made a televised appearance, announcing their seizure of control. Their statement declared the invalidation of the election results from the previous Saturday, in which Mr. Bongo had been declared the victor—although the opposition claimed it was marred by fraud. These officers also reported the arrest of one of Mr. Bongo’s sons on charges of treason. The fall of Mr. Bongo’s leadership would bring an end to his family’s 55-year dominance in Gabon’s political landscape. Notably, Gabon stands as a significant oil producer in Africa, and its landmass is predominantly covered by forests. In an interesting historical note, the nation became a member of the Commonwealth in June 2022, making it one of the few member states without a history of British colonization. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅SUPPORT US /AFFILIATE LINKS Use this affiliate link for your purchases at #MIZIZI International - Support our channel - PayPal: newafricachannel(at) Follow us on Instagram - Follow us on Twitter - Join us on Facebook - ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ✅COPYRIGHT DISCLAIMER The New Africa Channel doesn’t fully own some of the materials compiled in its videos.
