U.S. -Africa trade relations arenโ€™t quite at their best. Washington plans to remove Uganda, Central African Republic, Niger and Gabon from the African Growth and Opportunity Act, or AGOA โ€” the U.S. common trading mechanism with Africa. Earlier on, Rwanda quit, and Ethiopia got pushed out. Now, with uncertainty surrounding AGOAโ€™s extension after the 2025 expiration, trade ties remain perched on shaky ground.
