Amtrak’s Lake Shore Limited - North East, PA - September 2, 2011

This is Amtrak’s eastbound train 48, the Lake Shore Limited, on September 2, 2011. The train has a station stop in Erie, PA at 7:22 am, but was running late today. Instead of waiting for it in Erie, I decided to head to North East to get it running at track speed as it passes under Bort Road. The Lake Shore Limited finally made it’s station stop in Erie at 8:51 am, 1 hour and 29 minutes late. It didn’t get leaving the Erie station until 8:58, adding 7 minutes to its delay. It finally passed me at 9:15 am. The Lake Shore Limited was running with a different consist than normal, as following the lead P42 was a rebuilt P40. Included in the consist was a Horizon coach, an Amfleet I coach directly in front of the Heritage diner, as well as an extra Viewliner sleeper tacked onto the rear of the train behind the baggage car.
