Clapham And Dwyer Issue Title Play And Playfulness (1936)

Clapham and Dwyer. Part of the PLAY AND PLAYFULNESS issue. Probably shot in the Pathe Studio, London. Clapham, in top hat, white tie, tails and monocle appears from behind a curtain with a little difficulty - seems a bit tipsy! Several people sit at tables, as if in a nightclub, but this looks like a studio set. Clapham asks a bellboy to fetch Mr Dwyer, then tells some slurred jokes to the audience. He introduces a sketch called ’The Dash To The North’ that he and Dwyer act out on a chair and box before the audience. Dwyer plays a respectable-looking gent going to Leeds on a train who is joined by Clapham as a drunk toff with a balloon. They engage in some humorous patter and crosstalk.
