Gerald Finzi’s “Five Bagatelles“ - the “Prelude“, “Romance“, “Carol“, “Forlana“ and “Fughetta“, are played here by Michael Collins on clarinet and Michael McHale on piano. The pictures are by the English painter, designer, book illustrator, wood engraver and official war artist Eric Ravilious. Many of his works depict the countryside of the south east of England and seem to capture a sense of Englishness that existed between the First and Second World Wars.
