Some clips from the shows to follow soon, but I just had to post this great montage that @erireobano made of us @sunbeltrentalsuki in Wembley. The experience was a joy from start to finish, and courtesy of @jo_beirne. The company, in their vast premises, are primarily the go-to place for movie tech and equipment rentals, but have recently trialed a music rehearsal space, pending developing further that line of operation, and in so doing created the best space in which I’ve ever set up shop, (alongside Fairgreen, where we were the previous week!)). I got very lucky to be in such a musically conducive environment for the limited time I had with my compadres before our debut show. Exiting too, with its film-world bustle. As all musicians know, the space you’re in is everything. Venue, recording studio, writing environment, and absolutely rehearsal environment. And being so vibey we incorporated a fair amount of writing and recording into the process as well. Perfect. I wasn’t sure if I should perform “Ray of Light”, until I got everybody on the chords and parts for it at Sunbelt, and we kicked it off. Wow. Brought back a few studio memories with Madonna in ’98 when we did it, in a rather remarkable process, and after the great response yesterday to my little tale about her on socials, with all of your comments, I thought I’d maybe do a regular series of posts of fond memories and insights into that whole album and subsequent recordings and events, interspersed with my own humble posts.
