Storm Zoltan destroys Germany, brings flooding to Hamburg and other cities

Storm Zoltan swept through Germany with strong gusts and downpours. A strong storm surge on the German North Sea coast and in Hamburg flooded coastal areas. The storm caused road closures and travel disruptions across Germany, especially in the northern states. Storm Zoltan is expected to cross Berlin and Brandenburg between 1pm and 5pm on Friday 22 December, issuing a weather warning for the region. Strong winds in Brandenburg had already caused Tierpark Cottbus to close its gates on Thursday, with Volkspark Potsdam following suit and announcing it would close until the morning of December 23rd. Wind speeds are expected to reach 70-85 kilometers per hour and there will be rain and sleet.
