Congressman’s ‘bomb TSMC’ remarks taken out of context: premier

U.S. Congressman Seth Moulton has gone viral on Chinese social media, for suggesting that the U.S. bomb TSMC if China invades Taiwan. A clip of the shocking remarks ignited a firestorm on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. Taiwan’s premier says the comments were taken out of context, possibly as part of a Chinese cognitive warfare campaign. What the footage didn’t show was Moulton saying that he didn’t advocate for the idea. TSMC’s advanced chip technology is an important strategic asset for Taiwan. But as China’s threat continues to rise, U.S. Congressman Seth Moulton has raised the possibility of targeting TSMC to deter Beijing.
