Ep3: Developing the 2021 Yamaha R1 WorldSBK

Yamaha Raw Ep3 looks at what it takes to develop the 2021 Yamaha R1 into a race-winning WorldSBK machine. It takes teamwork, with everyone from Yamaha’s engineers to the team personnel and the riders - Toprak Razgatlıoğlu, Andrea Locatelli, Garrett Gerloff and Kohta Nozane - all working together to refine the Yamaha R1 into the most competitive package possible. The process starts with the engineers responding to rider feedback from the previous season to develop the bike over the winter. During preseason testing, the teams then take over, working with the engineers to assess the impact of updated components and working with the riders to improve the lap times. It makes for an intensive preseason schedule for the engineers, the teams, the mechanics and the riders, with the only real measure of success coming at the first race of the season.
