Eighteen months after the events of series five, Nina has been in a relationship with dedicated midwife Leo (Patrick Brammall), who is a colleague of hers at St Francis. Billie, Nina’s unruly elder sister, is bold, brassy and incapable of lying. Once the wild child, Billie is now a dedicated aunt to Nina’s baby and a committed wife to Mick, whose band she’s been managing while on tour in the UK. Youngest sibling Jimmy (Richard Davies) runs his busy Mexican taqueria while his wife Zara (Jane Harber) undertakes the gruelling challenge of studying for a medical degree.
