Mass assault on Cherkassy Orthodox Cathedral in Ukraine

Approximately 100 masked men assaulted a Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s cathedral in Cherkassy twice within 24 hours. The first attack occurred during evening services on Wednesday, when attackers drowned out worshippers’ prayers with nationalist music. As parishioners attempted to defend the cathedral, the crowd broke down doors and windows. Since last year, Kiev has been targeting the UOC, labeling its priests as Russian agents and conducting arrests.
