The years had taken their toll, and the old marauder, who had wandered the desert and its many ruins for years, had himself become a living ruin. The participation in the mysterious musical tournament had finished him off - the old man fell down with a terrible fever, and was already one foot in the grave. However, one day a miracle happened - a mysterious traveler, who was in Goodsprings as a passer-by, carrying a mysterious box with a disk, preserved (and more than once copied and reprinted) from pre-war times instead of a big iron on his hip, became interested in the sick old man and his misadventures. He thoroughly questioned the old man about where he had been and what he had seen there - very, very thoroughly. In return, he shared with Easy-Pete some medicine, so rare in these parts, that would put the prospector back on his feet, and on his way back he, without any shame or conscience, took a look into the mailbox outside the old man’s house.
