First Movement
Piano Concerto 20 in D minor
Klavierkonzert 20 in Re moll
Mozart
Commissioned by Richault
With a cadenza writen by Alkan in 1860.
Similar to his cadenza for Beethoven’s 3rd Concerto, Alkan takes heavy use of motifs within the concerto, such as the opening bass-drill, and takes it to the extreme. In the cadenza, Alkan also alludes and quotes a theme from Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony.
