Mnajdra Temple | Stunning Equinox Alignment in Ancient Malta | Megalithomania

The temples at Mnajdra were built over a long time and in various epochs starting in around 3400 BC, although Lenie Reedijk (who recently appeared on ’Ancient Apocalypse’) in her book ’Sirius: The Star of the Maltese Temples’ suggests it could be much older. It is made of coralline limestone, which is much harder than the soft globigerina limestone of Ħaġar Qim. On the vernal and the autumnal equinoxes, sunlight passes through the main doorway and lights up the major axis. The Megalithomania group had private access on the morning of March 22nd 2023 to witness this phenomenon. Also, on both of the solstices, sunlight illuminates the edges of megaliths to the left and right of this doorway. Megalithomania organises an annual tour to Malta and Gozo every March over the Spring Equinox.
