McConnell stepping down a ‘total shift’ in Republican Party’s ‘identity’

Sky News US Analyst Michael Ware says Republican Senator Mitch McConnell stepping down as party leader is a “total shift” in the identity of the Republican Party. Mr Ware said the Republican leader standing down “truly represents” the end of “Ronald Reagan’s Republican Party”. “He all but virtually said as much,” Mr Ware told Sky News Australia. The Sky News US Analyst’s comments come as the Kentucky senator will leave as the longest-serving senate leader in history. “I see this as far more than just a leadership change, this is a total shift in the identity of the GOP.”
