Kirsty Grosart - Negative Press to Handstand At The Wall

The freestanding negative press to handstand is a wonderful drill. But it can be a lot to learn at once. Trying to develop strength and figure out the sequence all while trying to maintain balance. It’s a lot. That’s why I like to use the wall. Many people do a back to wall press but in my opinion that puts too much pressure on your wrists and encourages leaning. What I prefer is a chest to wall negative press. Start with your hands further from the wall that a regular chest to wall handstand. The less flexible you are the further from the wall you will need to be. Stack your shoulders and hips over your hands and then slide your legs around. The key point is not to lean. Push down as hard as you can. Seriously PUSH! And DON’T LEAN! If you do lean there’s a chance that you will face plant.
