Vyshinsky At UN (1952)

Paris, France. MS. Britain’s delegate in the United Nations Selwyn Lloyd (Minister of State) speaking at the UN meeting in Paris - natural sound: “To enable the refugees or exiles, to take part in the defence of the alliance of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, an organisation that will only undertake military operations and if there is aggression, against any of its members by the Soviet Union. And I repeat that what has been said by other people, purely other people already in this debate and before, that the Soviets have only themselves to thank for the creation of this North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Had the Soviet Union chosen to continue the friendship alliance that existed during the last war and which we seek still to have, there would be no need for a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. Mr Vyshinsky in his speech used a phrase which I particularly note, he talks about countries marching to victory under the communist banner.
