Restoration Cossack Sword Shashka - Return of Power

Hello folks! Today I will show you a new restoration project. My friend asked me to restore this piece of old Cossack shashka sword. This shashka is old, with a wooden scabbard and brass fittings. It’s always interesting for me! Step one, parsing the scabbard. Everything must be done carefully, so as not to break the old scabbard. After removing the old copper nails from the scabbard, I proceeded to remove the glued leather. I am removing the skin from the scabbard, I used warm water. Then, having dried the scabbard well, I primed them with carpenter’s glue. I leveled the old leather that was used as a suspension, soaked it with oil. To glue the old broken scabbard and used carpentry glue and cardboard as linings. After gluing, the sheath dried for more than 30 hours. Then I processed them with a rasp and sandpaper.
