Tremors from Bali to Lombok! 7.1 magnitude earthquake shakes Indonesia!

A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.1 shook the Indonesian island of Bali on Tuesday. A few minutes later, aftershocks of magnitude 5.4 and 5.6 followed. Tremors were also felt on the nearby islands of Lombok and Sumbawa. The epicenter was in the sea at a depth of 515 kilometers off the northeast coast of Bali. Indonesian authorities ruled out the threat of a tsunami. The earthquake hit at 3:55 am local time, when most people were still sleeping. Residents of Bali said that the second tremor was longer and stronger. Many people ran out of their homes and hotels to find higher ground. “The earthquake is deep, so it should not be destructive,“ the emergency management agency said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injury.
