Biden Says Everything ’Under Control’ After New Jersey Earthquake

President Joe Biden said “things are all right,“ after an East Coast earthquake centered in northern New Jersey shook skyscrapers and suburbs across the northeastern U.S. for several seconds Friday morning. As he departed the White House for Baltimore to visit the site of the deadly bridge collapse, the president said he spoke with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy, “who thinks everything is under control.“ The New York area’s strongest earthquake in 140 years rattled northern New Jersey on Friday morning, shaking office buildings in Manhattan and snarling travel. The preliminary 4.8 magnitude temblor was the strongest in the New York area since 1884, according to the US Geological Survey. It occurred near Whitehouse Station, New Jersey, and was felt along the Acela rail corridor from Massachusetts to Washington, D.C.
