Houdini CHOP Talk 3 Audio Processing 1 - Audio Spectrum

Here I show how to use CHOPs in Houdini to deform geometry with audio. I quickly walk though the set up to use what we make as velocity fields in a FLIP sim. The flip sim isn’t the main point of this video, but it was interesting enough to include and if you’re interested in diving deeper into it, the file is available on Gumroad. The audio used from Six Umbrellas, it’s a song named Downfall. It is used under Creative Commons, and can be downloaded here 0:00 Intro 2:35 Start the build from scratch with line 4:15 Import audio 5:25 Envelope filter 7:51 Using the Channel SOP 11:00 Using a Wrangle for the deformation 13:49 Slip CHOP hack 15:00 Spectrum CHOP 17:33 Trim CHOP 19:54 Stretch CHOP 24:08 Making the set up more procedural 28:24 Applying the system to a sphere 29:38 Wrangle deformation setup 31:51 Wrapping up general CHOP thoughts 33:20 A walk through of the FLIP setup 36:58
