A Bhean Úd Thíos -Sean Nós song about fairy abduction filmed in Belcarra Eviction Cottage, Co. Mayo

The fairies are unpredictable and malignant. They come from behind the veil to walk amongst mortals and cause mischief. In A Bhean Úd Thíos, they abduct a young bride as she rides out on her horse and take her to the underworld. The fairies represent dysfunction and concealment. This video was filmed in a restored 19th Century farm cottage in Belcarra, Co. Mayo. In 1886 the walls of this cottage were smashed in with a battering ram and the family of 9 were evicted.
