Frederick Delius : Aquarelle No.1. Louis Aston Knight : Paintings.

The “Two Aquarelles“, the first of which you hear in this recording, are arrangements, (under the composer’s supervision), by Eric Fenby of two unaccompanied part-songs by Frederick Delius. The songs were issued under the evocative title of “To be sung of a summer’s night on the water“. The first Aquarelle is played here by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Barry Wordsworth. Louis Aston Knight was a French-born American painter. He was the son of the artist Daniel Ridgway Knight.
