High-spirited Putin hosts CIS leaders at ’Games of the Future’; visits aircraft plant in Kazan

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday (February 21) took part in an opening ceremony for ’The games of the future’ in Kazan - a multi-sports phygital (physical digital) tournament that joins classical and cyber-sports. Over 2000 athletes from 107 countries will compete for a total prize fund of $10 million in more that 20 different disciplines, organizers say. Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Serbia were amongst the honorary guests of the ceremony. In his address to the participants of the games Putin said that this tournament ’will be free from political conditions, all types of discrimination and double standards’. Phygital sports was officially recognized as a sport in Russia in January 2023. Same day, Putin visited Kazan Aviation Plant during his working trip to Tatarstan Republic. According to the Kremlin, the plant is preparing for production of the Tu-160M, a supersonic, variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber and airborne missile platform.
