Now every third is a woman. * Many cowboys were skilled poets and musicians. * Cowboys often lived by an unwritten code of conduct known as “The Code of the West,“ which emphasized values such as loyalty, honesty, and respect for others. Tipping the hat was a traditional gesture of respect, and it was customary to remove it when speaking to a lady. * While the iconic cowboy boots are still popular, many cowboys did and still do wear more practical footwear for the job, such as lace-up work boots.
