Jordie Barrett GREAT Performance vs Argentina | The Rugby Championship 2023

I was really surprised when watching the All Blacks vs Argentina game. I’ve always like Jordie Barrett, I think most South Africans love the Barrett brothers. But I didn’t really follow Super Rugby so I’m not sure if Jordie played inside centre there as well, because I’m used to seeing him play as a fullback. Although I know he had a game or to at the end of 2022 for the All Blacks at 12. I have to say, I really liked what I saw from him as a 12. I know he is a big guy if you look at his size which is in height and over a 100kg’s, I always saw him more as an skillful player than I did a physical player. But watching him play at 12, he really was physical and he used his size perfectly. I’m not just talking about taking up the crash balls and almost playing that Damian de Allende role (Except, he can actually pass and offload), but his physicality on defence was amazing to watch. He also was not afraid to get involved in the rucks, and he showed that with his steal at the breakdown. I really think New Zealand has something with him at 12. It will be interesting to see him develop there. As for next week against the Springboks, I think Lukhanyo Am has his job cut out for him because Barrett and Mckenzie showed some nice chemistry between them so Am needs to be on the lookout and not fall for any dummy lines because Barrett has the ability to make quick passes, so Am needs to trust De Allende and make sure he does not overcommit on defence. But Am is one of the best in reading the attack, so I’m sure he would’ve analyzed to game and watch for that move between Barrett and Damian Mckenzie. Either way, next week is setting up to be a great game between the Springboks and All Blacks.
