Fourth video in this series about the Elektron Model:Cycles FM synthesis groovebox. The video focuses on a lot of the dynamic features of the device: LFO (low frequency oscillator), Retrig, and Velocity-Dependent Modulation. I talk about various time regimes for these: SLOW (on the timescale of a sequence or pattern; rhythmic effects), MEDIUM (on the timescale of envelopes and somewhat below; typical of sound design), and FAST (on the timescale of the sound itself; FM synthesis, etc.) These are some really useful tools and concepts for eperimental music, ambient music, glitch and noise music, and making soundscapes in general. A lot of these methods can be applied to its twin device, the Model:Samples. I also nerd out a little bit about Krell sounds - on the Model:Cycles itself, but also a demo on the Kastle (Bastl Instruments) using the Space reverb on the Korg NTS-1 (if you are interested in the NTS-1 make sure to check out a recent video by Chris Lody about importing new sounds and effects
