So Endoparasitic 2’s just come out and, given how much fun I had both playing and animating for the first game, I thought it’d be appropriate to pay homage and make a sequel to my unexpectedly most popular animation. Bonus points for being in spooky season!
Shoutout to @Miziziziz and his team for improving on the first game in every way and go play his sequel here:
This was a fun challenge: One-upping the first animation with roughly two years of additional experience whilst also incorporating the sequel’s new aesthetics. That and I don’t feel like I’m particularly good at lever action weapons, nor hand loaded shotguns, so it was already a double whammy before doing it all one handed. I wish I could have done better, but I still learned a heap from this one.
This’ll probably be the last “big“ project I’ll do for the year, especially as this was my biggest set yet and very taxing on my increasingly underpowered lappy (hence the greasy look and noisiness of the animation). Not to say that I’m not animating, but a lot of real stuff is/has been happening and I’m eyeing up a new permanent workstation for the future so the rest of 2024’s line up is probably going to be shorter, sweeter and more simplistic.
I hope it turned out enjoyable enough. And yes: I know the base shotgun’s only got 3 shells. I just really wanted to ham it up and do some one handed flick-cocking lever-action action.
Also speaking of, once again the weapon is fictional and 2D, so I tried to keep it as game accurate as possible whilst drawing inspiration from real world weapons. Obviously the 1887 shotgun was pulled from, but model wise, the in-game shotgun actually has more in common with gate-loaded lever-action rifles, so I plucked from them.
Otherwise, it was also fun animating the zombie. I couldn’t quite get it to waddle whilst keeping speed, so I went for a ’skippy’ full sprint sort of ordeal, kinda like if a bat ran at you on ape forearms. Hope it was cool enough.
Made in Blender 4.0 and rendered at 60 FPS in Cycles with 200 samples and a noise threshold of 0.1.
And the song is “High Octane“ by Hampus Naeselius and published to Epidemic Sounds. It’s spooky season for a hectic horror game so I thought some claustrophobic sci-fi vibes would be fitting.
Ok, enough waffling. Otherwise, have a happy Halloween and until next time, have a good one!
