Pfizer building destroyed by tornado in Rocky Mount, NC

The roof was torn off the Pfizer building in Rocky Mount and most of the plant was destroyed. WRAL TV’s news helicopter flew over the site at 3 p.m., where trailers were overturned, the roof was crushed and parts of the building were splintered. WRAL News learned 50,000 pallets of medicine were destroyed in the storm. Before 1 p.m., both directions of I-95 were closed between Dortches and U.S. 64 due to downed trees in the roadway. People were driving in the median on I-95 and were traveling in the wrong direction. There were reports of injuries, damaged homes and cars with windshields blown out across Nash County. Jackie Vick, the mayor of Dortches, said he was grateful no one was killed during the tornado. Vick told WRAL that at least five homes were destroyed. “It went from sunshine to pitch black,“ Vick said. “We’re just thankful there were no lost lives.“ READ MORE:
