Burst hydrant causes some flooding during New York rain emergency 🌧️

Heavy rain causes problems across New York City as a State of Emergency is declared. One of those issues was a ruptured hydrant near Times Square that caused damage to the road and some flooding in local businesses. The FDNY were responding to a reported fire at 46th St and 6th Avenue near Times Square when one of the hydrants ruptured while an Engine Company were accessing it for water supply (as is standard with reported fires). The fire call turned out to be nothing but the ruptured hydrant did cause some damage to the road and nearby property. Utilities responded to shut down the water. This incident was relatively small compared to the larger flooding and heavy rain on Long Island which submerged streets, stranded cars and caused a few collapses. The subway system was largely suspended due to flooding in tunnels as a result.
