Midsummer was an important festival for the Vikings that marked the summer solstice and the beginning of summer. Celebrated with feasting, drinking, and merrymaking, the festival was associated with honoring the Norse gods, especially Freyr and Odin, and was a time when the powers of nature were believed to be at their peak. The Norse celebrated the abundance and vitality of the natural world and honored the gods who controlled it. They also believed that during Midsummer, the boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds were thin, making it a time of heightened spiritual significance. As a lover of all things Norse, I’ve always been fascinated by the ancient Midsummer festival and its powerful connection to nature. This is my intense tribute to this celebration that blends raw energy of modern dance music with the hypnotic rhythms of tribal music while drawing on influences from shamanism, tribalism, and heathenism.
