Located within Helheim, picture a bleak landscape, where jagged cliffs and rocky shores stretch out as far as the eye can see with a dark, tumultuous sea crashing against the forbidding shores, with relentless waves that churn and roar. The realm is enveloped in an eternal twilight, where thick, swirling mists hang heavy in the air, obscuring visibility. Náströnd is a place of icy coldness, where the souls of the wicked are condemned to suffer in eternal anguish being hunted and chewed endlessly by the serpent Níðhöggr, “The Malice Striker“. “Among the screaming of the wandering dead, with every strike of the drum the serpent feasts again.“ My goal with Náströnd was to make a very dark and brooding atmospheric track that takes you deep into the darkness of a brutal and horrific world while leaving you with a sense of unsettling eeriness.
