Mariana Trench - 8145m - New Snailfish

Video footage from the University of Aberdeen’s Hadal-Lander deployed in the Mariana Trench from the Schmidt Ocean Institute’s Research Vessel Falkor. This video shows the accumulation of small scavenging amphipods (Crustaceans, or ‘hoppers’) at 8145m deep. Amongst the scavenging amphipods is a new species of what is believed to be a snailfish (Liparidae).
