On August 6, 2023, in the city of Oruro, Bolivia, political and religious leaders celebrated an interfaith religious worship service in which Shamans, or guides to the spirit world, offered “food and drinks to the sacred Pachamama,” according to news sources. Pachamama is a term used in the Andes region of South America and is a reference to Mother Earth. She is worshipped as a deity who, according to Inca mythology, is the source of life, providing everything needed for survival.
