SILURIAN PERIOD. animals size comparison and data

The Silurian (443- 420 Million years ago) was the shortest of the Paleozoic Periods. Often overlooked, it was yet an important era of climate and evolutionary changes that started off with the recovery of the first mass extinction at the end of the Ordovician. In this period, dominated by Arthropods like the so-called ¨Sea Scorpions¨ most of life was still underwater, but the first vascular plants and animals started to colonize the land. Fish diversified and developed jaws, turning the tables on the food chain and setting the new order for the upcoming Devonian Period. Vertebrates would become the dominant apex predators from this moment.
