Sennacherib’s Campaign Against Lachish. The British Museum and Tel Lachish Israel. Biblicaltours

Situated in the Judaean hills, Lachish was a fortified city protecting Jerusalem. ‘Now in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all of the fenced cities of Judah and took them.’ 2 Kings 18:13. Sennacherib is mentioned thirteen times in the Bible, in 2 Kings, 2 Chronicles and Isaiah. These scriptures record what happened to Sennacherib when he came against King Hezekiah who he trapped in Jerusalem ‘like a bird in a cage’! Sennacherib commissioned detailed gypsum reliefs of his conquest of Lachish for his Palace at Nineveh, which are on display in the British Museum along with sling stones, arrow heads and the Taylor/Sennacherib Prism. In this video I have interspersed photographs of the tourist information from the archaeological dig site at Tel Lachish in Israel, which I visited last year.
