Sony CineAlta Primes V2 in 2023 | Overlooked Budget Cinema Lenses
The Super35 PL Mount CineAlta Primes from Sony we’re not a smash hit with cinematographers. They’re heavy, they don’t (all) cover full frame but we absolutely LOVE THEM. Comparisons to the Zeiss Ultra Primes and a variety of footage shot on the Sony CineAlta PL Mount Prime lenses (V2) otherwise known as SCL-PK6. Footage shot on the Arri Alexa Classic in 2k and raw, Canon C70 in 4k raw and Canon r5c in 8k raw.
I haven’t gone into detail looking at lens breathing, CA, shooting brick walls to test distortion, charts to test sharpness or lights down the lens to look at flaring (I’ll link to a helpful video below that’s already done that). If there’s demand for a more in depth technical look at these I’ll consider it for sure, any questions jump into the comments section :-)
