Yellu Village - the gate to Misool, South Raja Ampat

This short video shows the village of Yellu in Misool, South of Raja Ampat Archipelago. Misool is a very remote area and Yelly is the gate to that region. A ferry from Sorong is going to Yellu once per week on Monday night. So, if you are going to Misool by ferry that will be your first place to visit. You will arrive in Yellu in the early morning and can stay there (there are a couple of homestays) or move to other islands around. It is far away from tropical paradise as many people dream about. It is real life as it is. For us, traveling is about getting real-life experience. Yes, there may be a lot of people who live very close to each other. Yes, there may be dirt and debris. Yes, you can go to an ideal resort, polished and created especially for tourists. And someone chooses this option. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. But on our trips, we try to see real life as it is, stay in homestays, interact with local people, and not turn a blind eye to their problems. Speak with them and support them if we can. That is why our trips to Raja Ampat take place in island hopping format, and not the liveaboard (which can be a great option as well, especially for visiting the most remote dive sites). Misool is truly a unique place and we are happy to come there again and again. More information about our freediving adventures is on our website
