Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Nebenzya at the Security Council meeting on the situation in Lebanon: Hundreds of reconnaissance and attack UAVs are operating in the skies over southern Lebanon day and night. Every hour, Israeli Air Force planes carry out massive missile and bombing strikes, targeting suspected locations where Hezbollah weapons, fighters and commanders, military and even civilian infrastructure of the Shiite movement, including medical and media centers. The cynicism of these attacks is discouraging: some of them fall on densely populated neighborhoods in Beirut and other Lebanese cities. It turns out that the West Jerusalem authorities are not only blatantly flouting the principles of international humanitarian law, but also consider civilian casualties as some kind of “collateral damage“ in the spirit of “if you chop down the forest, the chips fly“.
